these clones were identical at planting.
same strain, same size, same nutes, the only difference is the buckets.
these are at 3-1/2 weeks veg, from 4in clones.
using GH 3+ nutes, and 250w MH for veg.

woo hoo, BM! beautiful buds!!!

re air stones, i use the cheap ones i get in the pet dept at wally world.

i don't understand how you're getting a clog in DWC. the air is pumped out of the pump into the plastic tubing which causes the air stone to make bubbles, at least in my simple buckets.

you do keep your air pumps higher than your buckets, don't you?

if you're referring to those hydrofarms, yeah, that 'bondage ring' at the top will clog up easily, but with those you don't use air stones.

so, you see, i'm confused. :D but one thing i'm very sure about is that you are producing some of the nicest buds i've ever seen!

keep it up, bro!

WOW! thanks for the props mary.
i too use the stones from wally world, but have moved to petsmart airstones, more air bubbles. but they clog quicker.
i still use the GH 3+ nute system, and i think thats why my airstones get caked up every 3-4 weeks. see the action that takes place when the air bubble breakes from the airstone is causing the nutes to crust up. its even on the nute bottles.
and whats with the air pumps being higher? no theyre on the floor beside.
is it better above???

i've always liked being on top. oh ... that's not what you meant, is it? i have no idea if the pump should be higher than the buckets. i was just trying to 'sound smart'.

i clean out my buckets every 2 wks and wash off the air stones as well as the bucket. so, yeah, i guess it is your nutes causing it.

i guess i need to clean em with the solution change.
i seen a flexible wand type and thought it would be cool around the bottom of the bucket instead of in the middle. but it was expensive.

i bought some air stones that were 3 or 4 inches long, but they floated up from the bottom and didn't seem to do any more aerating than the little ones that snap right into the end of the air hose, so i went back to the little ones.

they do need to be held under running water and sort of flushed when you do your solution change. i use fox farm nutes and when i pull the air hose outta the hole in the top of the bucket, there's always some gunk that comes off the hose.

i guess that's the stuff you're getting accumulating on your air stones. :)

the reason i dont like messin with em is the fact that the stone is trapped in the root mass, and i dont want to bother the roots.
i need more air bubbles.

So if the power goes off the water will not siphon out of your system.
