I am a first time grower in tassie and i was wondering if by now my plant should be showing sex or not? It is just planted in the ground and watered well, it is roughly a bit taller than knee high, it was planted a bit late so is a bit of a dwarf, if anyone could help that would be great, thanks

i will post some pics shortly she is coming along quite well now

Fish emulsion is good for the growing stages, you would be in the heading stages,so ya gunna need some ferts that have got a bit more kick, look for a "Master Bloom" or a "Bloom Booster" that is used for roses or orchids as they will have the right NPK for flowering.

I finally took a couple of pics of my little lady, she is my first attempt at growing and it was the only seed i put in and it was female, so needless to say i was stoked:D the only problem with the grow has been that she only gets about 3-4 hrs of direct sunlight a day where she is, sorry about the quality of the pics as it was with my mobile phone

Thanks guys, as you can probably see from the pics she isn't very tall, about thigh height, as i tried to train the main branches to grow sideways, it has definently worked as now all the bud sites below the main ones are getting as fat as the main ones:D i had to train her to go sideways as if she grew too high it would of been seen over the fence, I am amazed she really grew as all i did as an experiment was put 1 seed in the ground and this is the result. I will charge the batteries in the camera and take some better pics soon, thanks for the help through all of this guys as your wisdom has been ingeneous

AUSBUDMAN
03-12-2006, 12:26 AM
Yes herbgrower i hope to be harvesting around that time, weather permitting, i have to be careful of the frost that will probably start around early to mid april, here are a couple of clearer pics :icon_smil

ABM,the frost wont really hurt them that much,UNLESS it's close to snow !
Not too sure how cold it gets down there, but i would let them go for as long as ya can.
If ya need some smoko take a couple of the smaller branches off, this will also give ya an indication as to what the final smoke is gunna end up like.

After having another look at your babies,ya may want to let them go a bit longer,as they look like they need to fill out a bit more more before they are ready.
Um are you giving them any "food" yet?
You have got heaps of good looking bud sites, but they really need to fill in a bit,and you will have a much better looking plant.
Not being picky, just trying to help ya out a bit to get a better yield.
. :D
Get some food that you would use for roses or tomatoes.

03-17-2006, 11:08 AM
Thanks herbgrower, I will try to keep her going for as long as possible to maximise yield, :D I am currently feeding her bloom booster, i give her a quarter strength feed mid week and a full feed at the end of the week, i also give her plain water for the rest of the week, she is a thirsty girl! i will take a couple more pics tomorrow (bought a new camera yesterday) she is starting to fill out now:thumbsup:

i have a few new pics but with the new camera the dimensions and size r too big  does anyone know how to be able to resize them to fit in here? any help would be great, the buds and small leaves are all getting nice and frosty looking:D
AUSBUDMAN
03-18-2006, 04:09 AM
i just have another question about my plant, alot of the very tips of the leaves are turning brown and starting to curl and are abit dry, all the bud sites are still looking healthy and it not on all of the leaves, is there any ideas as to what it might be?
AUSBUDMAN
03-18-2006, 04:34 AM
i think i figured it out but i cant work out how to resize it and keep the quality of the pic:eek:
herbgrower
03-18-2006, 08:58 PM
A close up off the leaf would help.
Um,either its not getting enough magnesium, maybe,or some type of bug or fungus, check the underside of the leafs for eggs,or its getting ready to turn the leafs to head material, and they will go yellow and start to drop off.

03-25-2006, 05:18 AM
Thanks HB, the tips are still brown but it still growing hard and the buds are looking and smelling great now, i have noticed over the last couple of days that it looks like it may have some seeds starting to develop  I hope not, i can't understand why it would as there is no males that i know of anywhwere near her, i might be wrong about them being seeds, does anyone know where there is some close-up pics of near mature outdoor buds so i have a comparison;) I will take somemore pics tom and put them up, she has a really nice pungent aroma now:D
AUSBUDMAN
03-25-2006, 01:34 PM
here r a couple more pics, they would be of much better size and quality if i could work out how to resize my pics better: p i think you can see the brown leaf tips in one of the shots, but threst of the plant is nice and healthy
herbgrower
03-25-2006, 08:56 PM
The leaves are starting to do what they are supposed to be doing ABM. :D
They are getting mature and the leaves will start to turn yellow and drop off,DON'T STRESS,from what you have shown here, you are going to get a decent smoke !

03-26-2006, 04:11 AM
Thanks for that HG, i just went and checked on her to see if she was growing seeds or not, i now don't think that they are seeds, they look just like the smaller parts of the buds only bigger, i pulled one off and definently no seeds present :D i think i was just worrying for nothing, there's lots of resin showing up on the buds now, i would love to know what strain it is:icon_smil
herbgrower
03-27-2006, 07:58 AM
The "seed" you were squeezing wasn't a seed but the Calyx. ;)
Stigma or Pistils = the hairlike things that ya cant wait to change colour !
Trichome or Glandular Trichome also known as a Resin Gland =where the thc is "stored"
Calyx = the "seed" looking thing that ya popped.
If i'm wrong in any of my terminolgy,i am pretty sure i will be corrected ! ;)
Hope this helps ya.

04-01-2006, 07:43 AM
Thanks HG, Now if i have read this correctly, do i have to wait for three quarters of the hairs to go brown for it to be ready to harvest? Its just that i dont have a magnifying glass to be able to see the colour of the trich's, Here is a few more pics too

04-01-2006, 09:20 AM
A jewellers loupe would be better, around 10X magnification will do the job.
Now,i would let them go to around the end of the month,as they have still got a bit of "filling" out to do.
As they look nice so far, bit they still got a bit to go.;)
Keep the food up to them and dont forget to water with plain water.

Just thought i would give an update, I reckon i will pull her out today as the buds now seem to be getting a purple tinge to them even though i have been feeding her regularly, all the leaves are still a nice deep green and she still looks very healthy and she smells great now:D
herbgrower
04-15-2006, 09:13 AM
The purple is from either from the cold or the strain.

Thanks for help HG and everyone else, i have pulled her out of the ground now as we have had almost two weeks of rain and cold weather and she just wasn't getting the sunlight she needed and wasn't getting any bigger. So i now have her drying in a cupboard, she looks like she is going to be a nice smoke:blaze: So thanks again all involved in helping me out, will let you all know what she smokes like, the buds are sooo frosty:D

04-22-2006, 05:54 AM
Any pics yet or have ya smoked it all ? ;)

04-23-2006, 02:13 AM
Yeh i will get some pics up just before i put it all in jars, its all in paper bags at the moment after spending the last week hanging, I am trying to cure it properly so i can get the best possible smoke out of it :D I reckon i got about 2 oz of weed and of the little bud i just took and tried it is going to be a really good smoke, i am happy with the turnout of my first ever plant

g,day guy in tassie if it is in the ground now,it is very late to be sexing,i am in w.a and it is starting to get cold here, all my friends outdoors are finished or just about, tassie is colder i believe, some of my mates grow short winter crops so you may end up with a smaller yeild, but watch the frost, but as i live on the west coast cant really comment on your weather,as i think it is a bit colder than w.a:thumbsup:
