There are 243 days left until Election Day ...
... and the Marijuana Policy Project's opponents in Nevada have opened fire, telephoning voters with outright lies about our ballot initiative to end marijuana prohibition.
MPP recently obtained a recording of a Telephone Poll (http://www.regulatemarijuana.org/home/push_poll) that Nevadans are hearing when they answer their phones. The automated "pollster" lies to voters about what MPP's initiative would do, claiming that it would "make marijuana available in grocery stores and convenience stores, similar to buying a pack of cigarettes." You can hear it for yourself here (http://www.regulatemarijuana.org/home/push_poll).
Unlike what our opponents are saying, the initiative — which is already qualified for the November 7 ballot — would ban the sale of marijuana in convenience stores, grocery stores, dance halls, and gas stations ... among other reasonable restrictions that the voters demand. Furthermore, unlike with cigarette sales, purchasers of marijuana would have to be 21 or older.
What the initiative would do is make Nevada the first state to permit the legal cultivation, distribution, and sale of marijuana to adults aged 21 and older — and not just for medical use — which would be the biggest victory in the history of the marijuana policy reform movement. And, as you can see, our opponents are willing to lie to stop it.
We don’t know who is behind these calls that lie to Nevadans. We're open and honest about what our initiative would do, while our opponents are lying and lurking in the shadows.
Could it be that our opponents feel that their arguments against our initiative aren't strong enough to win the day?
We can win in November, but only with your help. Because MPP doesn't receive any money from the government, our entire campaign must be funded by private donations. So would you please make a generous donation to our campaign today?
Thank you,
