So my g-friend & i are sitting there watching the Popes funeral. I look at her, & say. "With all those thousands of people there I wonder how many might die". You know heart attacks happen during big events. She even aggreed with me. U know thats an interesting comment. Such a big event in the churches history & all.

As we are sitting there watching this. & theres a big spashing sound from behind us. Oh Oh the Sharks are freaking out that i am up so late.. LOL..

its now 6am , the mass has ended. i get up to make a fresh cup,, & i stop cold. that big splash i heard wasnt my sharks. It was my Jack Dempsey . & its DEAD ! had a heart attack i guess ?!

its a tropical fish from South America, i had him for about 10 years. & in the last 6 to 8 months he had an air bladder infection. i was surprised he made it this long. :p i guess i am a good pet owner...

sorry to hear about your buddy, buddy. Sounds like you had a lot of time together. I do have to say that's the first time I have ever heard of a fish being "diagnosed" with a "medical problem".

LOL , OH DuJ .. that is such a funny thought, walking into the vets. with a fish in a baggie.. Ah excuse me . My fish is sick ! LOL..

ok,, now that i've stopped laughing...

i have owned & raised fish for 30 years. so i do have a *little knowledge. *key word

about 9 months ago i noticed a problem ,, so i went on the internet & called the local fish stores. & told them the problem. the basic replys i got was an air bladder infection , or that it had a swallowed a stone & it could'nt pass it. which caused the poor fish major agony ! & it looked ill .. yet when ever i tried to catch it with the net. thinking it was dead. the S.O.B. would dart off & then act normal for awhile.. i finally gave up trying to catch it, & just kept the tank clean & added meds once a week.

well finally on friday morning it was its time..

actually my favorites are African Rift Lake Chilids. i used to rasie them for $$$ . & they are fun to watch. Very aggressive & territoryal . <-- my spelling SUCKS. LOL

i think once we get the new house , i may just have to go with them again.. :D

10 years thats a long time Kenny sorry to hear it.

After reading your post out of interest started doing some research on Jack Dempseys found people either absolutely LOVE or HATE those fish no inbetweens the people who loved them liked their aggresive style those who hated em didnt like the fact they kill every other fish in their tank :o territorial as hell they are from what Im reading. Sound like an interesting fish

If you ever get the chance make a trip to Busch Gardens Florida, they have a Cichlid habitat out there that is AWESOME.
