View Full Version : My Growroom Part II (Sativas)

Here we go again. Last time it was a scrog in soilless, Indicas in hydro, WW clones. Let's do something different this time. But what ?

I was planning a 64 plant SOG from clones, so I germed a bunch of sativa dominant seeds. The goal was to pick a couple good mothers, produce some clones, and do a SOG with them. But we're going for production this time, so I am going to take 2 clones from each plant, then flower the seed plants while vegging the clones for mothers. By the time my current plants are done flowering, the SOG will be ready for flowering.

I soaked 21 seeds, and 20 have sprouted (I dropped # 21 on the floor and lost it). Seedlings were sprouted in 20 oz styro cups, and handwatered for 10 days under 400w MH conversion. Last night, plants were transplanted into 3 gallon pots, 12" square.
Medium is Promix/Perlite, nutes are GH Flora series, CalMag+, and Liquid Karma. Currently feeding 0-3-6ml/gal GMB, 2 ml CalMag, and 10 ml LK (for transplant). Nutes are used every feeding. RO water only, pH 6.2. Room temp 75F, humidity 50%, kept constant with a 12,000 BTU portable AC/dehumidifier.

I planted 7 Kalichakra from Mandala, 6 Isis (fem) from DP (this is the only Indica dom), 5 C-99 x NH (fem) from Femaleseeds, and 2 c-99 f2's from Spice Bros.

All the seeds sprouted quickly and grew consistently, except the Isis. They don't look good to me, but I've never seen the strain before. The first pic is of an Isis before transplant. Notice the deformed leaves. The 2nd pic is another deformed Isis. The 3rd is an Isis with no deformities. The rest are the C-99s, etc. Do you think there is something wrong with the Isis ? Thanks Scorpion_King, but this post isn't plants, no, we've made improvements in the growroom. I've built (over-built) a drain table, run 42' of drip-lines, installed 2 emitters per pot, and I now have an automatic, drain-to-waste drip system. It takes 10 gallons of nutes to water 20 3 gallon pots each watering. with nominal run-off from each pot. I'm using 1/2" dripline in a loop from the pump, with a pair of 1/4" lines run to each pot, terminating in a "no-clog" emitter (dripper). The pump is a submersible, 360 GPH, more than enough power to get a consistent flow to all pots. Run-off is caught in a 2 gallon bucket, but will be replaced with a sump pump with a float switch. I have to buy/build a larger reservoir to handle multiple waterings also. The plants in close are c-99 and Kalichakra. All plants are healthy, roots filling the 3 gallon pots. In about 10 days we'll see about taking some clones. Captu4ik :icon_smil .

Here, one plant is enough to send you away for a long while. It's all part of the challenge, to me. (LOL)

Actually, I can grow a decent plant, this grow is aimed more at production, in a timely manner. If (when) this works out, we will expand by 44 more plants, next grow. With that in mind, I have taken all the cuttings I wanted, they are currently rooting. These will be used for mothers for next grow, based on what happens this grow. I have also pruned or topped all plants. Another week and we'll put the HPS to 'em. Captu4ik:icon_smil .

Busy man ? Uncle Sam has my legit business shutdown right now, so I spend half my time watching my plants grow inside (I've a HPS sunburn), and half my time outside, watching my cacti seeds germinate!

I decided it was too much jungle, the C-99's really bushed out, the C-99xNH's are already over 2', after topping, the Kalichakra's looking healthy. Only one Isis really looks healthy, the other 5 are RUNTS. I didn't realize that these would be short, Indica bushes -- whadda idiot ! Anyway, I changed out the 400w MH for the 400w and 600w HPS, and switched to 12/12. I had a big problem with stretching last grow, so I picked up something from the local hydro store. It's called Stretch Stop. It's a foliar spray that's applied at lights on, the first 2 days of 12/12. Of course when I applied it the first day I'd read the directions wrong (too much White Widow), so I applied it at half strength, and last night when the lights came on everything except the Isis had grown about 6"! I had to remove all my plants, and re-arrange them for height. Anyway, I applied it again, at the proper strength this time. The directions say that it can be applied 3 times, so I will douche them again today when the lights come on. This stuff is supposed to make the change from vegging to flowering immediately. I wonder if this will affect flowering time ? We'll see -- Captu4ik.

Thanks for your comments, guys. Things are getting crowded, and that free sample of Stretch Stop wasn't worth the money I paid for it (LOL) ! My C-99 x NH2's are five feet tall already. That's the first couple pics. They have all turned into bushes, very tall bushes ! The Kalichakra are doing well, that's the next 2 pics, and the Isis are looking bad. Not unhealthy, but they're getting choked out because of their short stature. I raised them up tonight, that's the group shot. All the plants are looking very healthy, the c-99xNH2 are looking especially nice, but I wonder how tall they'll be in ten weeks ? Guess we'll see -- Captu4ik.

These plants are too tall to be 'Sea of Green', must be an 'Ocean of Green'. Or just a bunch of really tall plants crammed into way too small a space. Yeah, that's it, I grew too much again ! My next grow will be 9 White Widows, maybe that will work out better.

Keep the :pics: coming, Look Great :animbong:

Thanks Mex, Scorp. As far as pics go, I just uploaded some more and realized I have more pics than anyone, even Rodge_420.

Anyway, I can't remember what week of 12/12 this is, maybe week 4. It doesn't really matter, because I can't remember how long these strains take anyway.

http://420genetics.com/gallery/files/2/4/6/flowering001_394816.jpg

I came home from a week and a half at sea, and all the c-99xnh2's were 6' tall. Mrs. U4ik did an excellent job of tying them back, because she couldn't raise the lights any higher.

http://420genetics.com/gallery/files/2/4/6/flowering002_427821.jpg

Here's a c-99xnh2 and a Kalichakra. Both are showing tons of buds.

http://420genetics.com/gallery/files/2/4/6/flowering003_257433.jpg

This is my only c-99. Boy is she a bush !

http://420genetics.com/gallery/files/2/4/6/flowering004_598320.jpg

I can't remember which this is, but I have no pics of the Isis, which are stuck in the back, but looking real good, now. They are only 2 1/2' tall, but they are looking to be fine, single-cola plants. They actually look healthier than all the others, but that may be because they are a much darker shade of green. Nice tight plants. All plants are showing trichome development. Nutes are now GH Micro 5 ml/gal, Bloom 10 ml/gal, Liquid Karma 10 ml/gal, and FoxFarm Beastie Bloomz 1/4 tsp/gal. pH is 6.2.

I am truly concerned about over-crowding. The shorter plants are under a 400w while the taller are under a 600w. So far, except for the plant in front of the AC, none of the plants have lost or yellowing lower-growth, but penetration seems minimal. I have tied the tallest colas away from the lights, and they are growing horizontal now. Also, airflow is poor. The AC unit is overgrown and the fan doesn't seem to push air anywhere. Temps have been hitting 83F, but so far there is no heat damage. I wonder if I can get more than a gram per watt out of this -- Captu4ik.

I came home last night, looked in my growroom, and got SCARED ! Ya'll thought they were monsters before, now they look like monsters with fat buds. You folks get to see your plants on a daily basis, but I go away for 7 or 8 days at a time. The difference in a week's growth is amazing. I tried to remove a few plants to get in there and remove dead fan leaves and look for hermies, but I couldn't untangle them. They've all grown together, and it will be hell when the Isis get done before the others. Oh well, I guess we should all have such problems -- Captu4ik.

Here's some more pics. The first is an Isis (fem) from Dutch Passion. This might be the first pic I've taken of one. DP says it is a Sativa dominant, but I can't see it. They are short in stature, with wide leaves. Oh yeah, minimal trichome development. too.http://420genetics.com/gallery/files/2/4/6/floweringandcacti006.jpg

The Cinderella (c-99) is nearing completion. Good thing, I'm down to the last of my NL. She isn't very big or fat, but she's frosting up nicely, as are some of the NH2xc-99. It looks like at least one NH2xC-99's will be earlier than 11 weeks, many pistils are turning brown already, with many fat trichomes. Captu4ik.

Thanks for your compliments, guys.

The c-99 and one NH2xc-99 got chopped about 2 weeks ago, and Mrs. U4ik chopped the rest on Friday. Here's a pic of them drying. Isis are on the left, Kalichakra on the right, with the NH cross in the middle. Mrs. U didn't take any pictures before chopping, and evidently once the first plant was removed, except for the Isis, all the other plants fell over. All the plants were hopelessly intertwined. The Kalichakras and Isis' were mostly cloudy/amber, while the NH crosses were not quite as done.

http://420genetics.com/gallery/files/2/4/6/harvest.jpg

I will have some bud shots and a dry weight after they have cured. I don't think that I will have much more than last time, maybe 1.1 gm / watt. There were too many plants in too small a space, the same yeild could have been acheived with less plants. Also, the Isis plants got choked as they were much shorter in stature. Next grow will be all White Widow (from Femaleseeds.nl), but this time maybe 9 plants (versus 14), and the medium will be coco.

Usually I already have my next grow started before the current grow is finished, but I may be taking a 40 day trip to the South Pacific next month, so right now here's my growroom -- Captu4ik.

822 gms ! That's sad. Last grow was over 1000. Half as many plants. I learned a lesson : More isn't always more. Too many plants, and also too tall for one 600w and one 400w HPS.

Thank you all for your positive comments, but I've disappointed myself.

Yes, trillions, they are Peyote. They're the little ones. Check my current grow thread, I'll post some pics of the big ones and the grafts, as soon as I figure out what I did to screw up my camera. Right now it is unusable.

Smoke report -- Isis. This has got to be the worst weed I've grown, excepting Lowryder. It has great bag appeal, but a minimal amount of trichomes. It doesn't expand when you take a hit, although it does have a pleasant taste. These plants were the shortest in the grow, so they may not have gotten as much light as everything else, but still, the genetics are poor. I don't think I'll try any more Dutch Passion seeds.

Fruity Haze (Neville's Haze x C-99) -- A potent sativa buzz. Trichomes were amber, but this is good daytime smoke. Three hit shit. These seeds are no longer available, so I can't grow this again.(Feminised from FemaleSeeds.nl).

Kalichakra (Mandala seeds) --This is The Shit. Extremely potent. Two tokes and you feel like you have a vise clamped on your head, and you can't stop laughing about it. I will grow this again.

And sorry to hear about the Isis being so bad  especially considering how much hey talk it up: Here's a direct quote about Isis- "Mostly Sativa with a clear Haze influence. The connoisseur is guaranteed premium seeds with the feminized form of this variety. First class high. Branches bow at the end of plant lifecylce, due to sheer weight of the buds".

"Mostly Sativa with a clear Haze influence. First class high. Branches bow at the end of plant lifecylce, due to sheer weight of the buds".

I don't know what I did wrong, but they appeared Indica dom, there were no branches to bow, they came up single-cola, and if that's a first-class high, bring on the Mexican Dirtweed !
