View Full Version : India trip

06-25-2006, 03:11 PM
Just got back to Hong Kong from Taiwan and am off to India this week. Anyone here been to India? Plenty of good cheap hash available, the weed available generally isn't that good, definitley not for North Americans or Europeans used to smoking good quality stuff. The finger hash it top notch, I remember when I was in Nepal you could get a half kilo of grade A finger hash for USD$50.

Most of the really good smoke available in India comes from Pakistan and Afganistan although India does have it's own supply, it usually isn't as good as the stufff from acroos the border. Hash cut with opium is also available there but will put you to sleep and if you smoke too much, sick/dizzy.

I am hoping to visit some plantations for fun while there and bring back some good genetics at the same time. If any of you have been there and done this I would interested in knowing where your genetics originated from. I'll be there during harvest time but haven't decided where exactly I should go to source the genetics. Any ideas?

Just got back from India, ended up getting severe food poisoning/virus. Yeah thanks I'll check out mandala, but I got some seeds while I was over there. I was going to pass on some of my seeds to other growers, but since the fall of Og that sort of thing isn't allowed anymore, I remember when trading was cool, times are a changing hey.

Of what the India trip or the beans lol?

I posted a few snaps on the GK site here's the link, there are also snaps of the Mehendi (Henna) I did while I was there, one of the reasons I went there was to learn to do traditional Mehendi so I can offer it aswell as my tattoos, the girls like it, since it also lasts only a couple weeks, check it out:

Here's pic of the beans lol

LOL me and several other members are no longer welcome at GK...... We feel fortunate about this

08-09-2006, 07:09 AM
Man that's gay, I'm sure you could access the site if you really wanted to, but if I was banned I wouldn't want to go back even if I could. What led to that if you don't mind me asking mate? As you know I am fairly neutral and don't pay much attention to most of the drama that goes on on GK. Funny it can seem like a Ganja friendly soap opera sometimes huh.

08-09-2006, 07:37 AM
LOL long story short it was the season finale of someones favorite show...Twists and turns in the enevitable backstabbing and B rated acting.......Snickelfritz got banned (but not really) and when we told him to come back and remove the dramaqueens he turned around and banned us.....LOL just more GK bullshit tho....i ain't been back in a minute and it feels good

08-09-2006, 07:44 AM
When the bow breaks.....

08-09-2006, 07:57 AM
I'll upload them to Photobucket than here maybe later today when I have a little more time, I might have to resize them again, that take a bit a time. I'm off later

08-09-2006, 02:15 PM
OK ere ya go, sorry no hot babes. Unfortunately with Indian customs followed to a tee by just about all of society, you can't just approach women in the street, they definietly wouldn't talk to you if she didn't run away first. Even if, gods permitted, you managed to find someone, a relationship would be out of the question, and marrage would be unthinkable, a taboo since you're not Hindu, the only religon you can't convert to. Even so you have wannaba hippies roaming around in traditional garbe playing Hindu all over the place.

Since you are a westener you will never be excepted into the Hindu culture, no matter how long you've lived there. The best you can hope for is to just try and understand their culture and take the time to discover the beauty that lies beneith the dirt and first impressions.

India these days tends to tout itself as a rapidly developing country with it's IT and business development, yes this is true, but in reality the 90% of the population not involved in this side of the economy, are impoverished with about 80% of homes not even having a toilet. Seeing it first hand opens your eyes and you realize there are different scales of poor in this wide world.

I went to the Black Hole of Calcutta, where Mother Teresa got her start. You can smell this makeshift town a mile away. The families live in houses made from rubbish, and they make their living by wading through the city dumps, risking being run over by the dump trucks etc, usually 1 person weeks gets crunched unter a tractor or something, but they aren't left with many options. Collecting scrap pieces of plastic they can sell to recycle, making about 50 cents a day if they are really lucky. This is why Everyone is out to rip you off, and I mean everyone, even when you go into a proper store for a pack of smokes. You can't blame them, and they're not out to hurt you, they just figure a couple bucks isn't anything to us, where as it could feed their family for almost a week.

It takes about a month before you know what the real prices of everythnig is lol, even so you almost always expected to give some backsheesh, that's what they call a tip, or what the cops call a bribe. Only cops tand to take more lol.

India is a wonderful country and I'll definitely be going back. If you ever go for a visit, don't let first impressions stay with you. Once you get past all failed plans, power failures and unreliablility, it has a 3rd world charm un to itself. Give yourself enough time to get sick, get better again and do some traveling, it's a huge country like the United States. Being in India is like taking a step back in time, and it does take a while before you start to even like the place, but once you do, it really does grow on you.

My main reason for being in India was to learn traditional Mehendi (Henna) so I can off it to my clients as well as tattoos. here's some pics of my work while I was learning in Calcutta.

Mehendi is the Hindi word for Henna, which is the name of the plant the powder is made from. It's mixed with water, lime juice and Henna oil to make a paste, which is applied to the skin squeezed from a hand made cone as you would icing on a cake. The longer the paste stays on the skin the darker the stain is, usually a light brown to dark red, depending on duration. The paste will dry and fall off on it's own. Leaving you with the stain in the pattern you've drawn on, lasting about 2 weeks depending on skin type and quality of paste.

Damn Chopstick ! I missed this thread, just now saw it. You have no idea how jealous I am. I've never been to India, but traveled extensively through SE Asia, Hong Kong, Macao, etc. whilst living in Bangkok, Thailand. It seems like I can't live without traveling, but it has been 26 years since I've been in that hemisphere. I find your observations very interesting, and your pics wonderful. Love the Mehendi.

It's interesting that you mention tatooing. My first (I'm covered now) tatoo I got was done in Hong Kong with a bamboo needle and a mallet. Excellent work, but alot more pain than with a gun.

Oh yeah, the local weed in Thailand was the best I've ever smoked. Kinda liked the Opium, too.

09-01-2006, 12:01 PM
You shoudl come back to Hk, you wouldn't believe the changes if you haven't been back in 20 odd years, the place looks different if you haven't been back for just 2 years. Been a while since they have using bamboo needles here, even during the Vietnam war they were using steel. where did you get it done, I know most of the artists in town. here's a link of Bamboo tattooing in Thailand just for you, great stuff with rudementary equipment!

I'd love to travel to India one day, especially since seeing "Mystic India" in the IMax theater, the place looks so colorful and diverse. Although I have to say, their hiearchial (spelling) social system is a horrible, fucked-up thing. Show us more, I'm plenty interested.

09-02-2006, 11:25 AM
I'd luv to, but I'm back in HK now, be glad to fill everyone in on HK but seems like not many people are interested in these travel posts. I sometimes feel like maybe people don't comment cuz they haven't traveled much themselves? Donno, but those who have usually chime in with their adventures and memories.

Wish we had more travelers on the boards, I love to see other people photos and hear what other places are like.

09-02-2006, 05:21 PM
ive been all over the states and down into to mexico but thats not as interesting as some of you guys travels.....I may move this thread to the smokers lounge for a few days to get some traffic

09-05-2006, 01:12 AM
I've traveled to Switzerland many times, maybe I can do one of these threads on one of my trips, but its already been 2 years since my last visit.

09-28-2006, 02:43 PM
Do you have any pics of your tattoo work chop?

10-01-2006, 06:07 AM
Of course I do, but for obvious reasons I can't post them here. I'll see if there are a couple I can post without getting myself in trouble.

07-12-2008, 04:48 PM
LOL me and several other members are no longer welcome at GK...... We feel fortunate about this

You got the old heave-ho too, eh? I guess webby was feeling a little short between the legs.

07-16-2008, 10:24 AM
Jealousy combined with insanity is no good. But hey, maybe they have changed.
Only one person from over there that is absolutely not welcome here.........And when he reads this he'll know it is meant for him.
