when life throws you a curve ball, how do you cope with it?
normally i get stoned...its been a default means of 'coping' for me for a long while.
i've been trying to replace that with other things, for instance i work out my issues on my bike. A solid 2 hour pedal puts me at peace much like a fat bowl..
but i cant depend on my bike all the time, and i definitly dont like using pot as an all purpose numbing device.
so i guess, what are some hobbies or methods of setting the mind to peace that you all have established in your life?

Good hard physical labor does it for me. I work myself to exhaustion when I have matters on my mind that I'd rather not think about. I find the answers come to me when i'm not thinking. Best thing to learn when life throws ya a curve though....learn ta bob and weave. :animbong:

as sparky stated, sometimes ya just got ta duck and dive a little
i usually take a long walk into the countryside with my dogs
sometimes i visit the grave of my grandfather{gives me positive vibes}
I have a few spots, pick up my guitar, plug her in, crank up the distortion, and blast my frustration out the speakers.
Seems to work for me :)

I like to walk to my fave spot at the lake with my dog and fire one up....just chill out & think! Or art does it for me....let my creative juices flow and paint till I am totally relaxed. Working around my house or just spending time outside with my pets puts my head in a good place after I get high. ;)

now that i think more, i used to draw a ton before i smoked alot of pot.
just breathing fresh unadulterated air can be so good for the mind, soul.
man misti, thinking about the people who have gone is a hard one for me.
physical exhaustion works very well too. Another hobby of mine that sends my mind into peaceful places is rock hunting. I have several sacred rock collecting sites in the middle of nowhere, among the rocks i find are many that are 'blanks' for arrowheads.
I tend to leave most rocks and blanks where i find them. Something inside me says that i have no right to take these sacred rocks out of this place. But to pick them up knowing well enough that they havent been touched in 100's of years and that the man who last touched them was of another culture and way of living....
whew..... its always a really spiritual event and i come off the mountain with much revitalized energy.

i meditate.
like to think things through never been one to hold it inside for too long because I like solutions and closure to the issues at hand a.s.a.p.
A firm believer in the fact that we have choices 99.9% of the time, problem is we dont always like the choices we have.
Like to look at it from all perspectives try to see others point of view, why and what causes them to do the things they do then come to a course of action based on those conclusions. If the problem doesnt involve another person I attempt to solve it on the spot and dont stop until Ive come to a solution more often than not.
Sometimes, anger takes control and other times just let it roll off by trying to view it in a humurous or understanding way the "thats life" approach. Found I handle problems most often in one of two ways its either 1. The assertive approach facing it immediately on the spot and talking it through
OR 2. The angry approach with the assertive approach mixed in(meaning I get pissed first, then talk it through) all depending on the situation at hand. Rarely, do I stew over them.
Despite it the conclusion I come to more often then not is this:
We have choices in life (many of them) and lifes too short to stress out over this problem for too long so make one(a choice) and move on. Then I make the choice, put it behind and move on. Once its over its over and I dont go back there too often if ever.
As far as having something I like to do to deal with the problem concerning stress relief...that would be dealing with the problem and finding an answer a.s.a.p.
