ballast problems

i seem to be having a problem with one of my ballast.light wants to flicker when it first come on.im pretty sure its the capacitor.it just started doing this.any ideas what else could cause this....

ive never seen a cap go bad slowly, theyve always just gone out for me.
look at the ignitor(starter).
thats another component inside the unit.

On my old 1k my caps went out and it would do the same thing.

It would light up for a minute or so then.....nada....nothing...zip.


I think you may have guessed correct.

does it just flicker coming on? and then its fine or does it do like tib said come on then flicker off? and does it stay off or try and start agian if it does?

my ballast sometimes flickers just coming on but its been fine for 4-5 yrs.
