Ok, I figured I'd post this here....I've never done this but does anyone re-use their soil after chopping?

I heard its alot easier with organic ferts then chemical ones. The other thing to watch out for is any peat in the mix. Peat is ok for a few months then it starts to break down rapidly turning acidic.

I just started reusing my promix soil (2-3 mos) w/ no visible problems (I'm mostly organic)... But I will keep my eyes open for the peat breaking down. Thanks for the heads up!

The first year I grew indoors I re-used soil because I was exceedingly broke.
There are problems with doing that however.
Like a build-up of salts and left-over nutes.
Outdoors I have re-used soil without the above problems because of the forgiving nature (and the natural flushing of a winter's rain) of outdoors. But every years I'd add a little more organic goodies and turn over the soil.
Plus, guerilla growing I never grew in the same spot for more than 2 years. I figured the longer I grew at the same site the more likely it was to be discovered.
I recommend using new medium every crop indoors.
P.s. I would use the old soil as an amendment to my back-yard veggie garden.
I recently concluded a grow where I re-used the soil. My plants come out ok, but they were way more nutrient sensitive IMO than they were on the first grow. I flushed the soil well, and have had no complaits as far as taste goes either. I use organics so maybe that was a plus as well. If you can swing it I would recommend using new soil. I used ocean forest, but on the next grow I may try something else.

This current grow i am re-using my soil. Fox Farm Ocean Forest. I use age old organics, along with some peace of mind guano. No probs so far, i will be posting some pics in a bit. I don't see any noticable difference. then again, i used all organics, and flushed very well.

nesta man, i have done it, better if you compost it first, but i wouldnt do it more than a time `er 2 and prefer new soil each time.

I have re used the soil that was in the pot of males. The plants were not that big and the root structure was easy to remove. I started a lot of plants that were male and I hated to just throw that much soil away. I didn't notice any problems, but my experience is limited I was using chemical fert at the time.

I had thought about just putting the soil to compost in the back yard for a while and try to use some of it down the road later.
