Can someone help me. I'm no computer wizz and need a little help posting pics.
No worries Green Kitty.
First if the picture you have isnt uploaded to the net you need to get it there.
The garden gallery is a good place.
Once its there, bring it up on screen, right click your mouse and click Copy image location. In your post take that image location address you copied and paste it in between these <----here-----> and you should be good to go.
Who woulda thought, a bird helping a cat.

The way Kiwi has described this upload proceedure is one way to do it, but not the only way. This site now allows you to upload directly from your computer. Here's an "A-Z" on uploading for this or just about any site.
All sites have restrictions on both the size of the file (picture) and the physical size of the image (number of pixels x number of pixels). While some sites allow larger pictures than others, for the sake of convenience I limit all of the pictures that I might want to post to 640 pixel by 480 pixel for the overall image size. The 640 pixels can be either vertical or horizontal depending on the picture. That will take care of part of your problem.
The other issue is file size. File size is regulated by two things, the DPI (dots per inch) and the amount of compression you use. You want to shoot your images with as much resolution as possible because you'll probably want to make prints from them. But for displaying on the Internet you want to reduce that resolution way down to 72 dpi. There is no reason to go higher than this because your computer moniter will only display the image at 72 dpi. If you post the same image at 600 dpi, you won't see the difference on the screen. By limiting the dpi you're half way there in reducing your image file size.
Most digital cameras don't allow you any choices in file TYPE...they only let you save images as .jpg or jpegs (same thing). Upper end cameras will allow you a choice to also save in .tif (or TIFF) or RAW files, as well as jpg. No matter what file type you shoot in, you'll want to save them for the web as jpegs. The reason is that the jpeg file format has very good compression. Once you've reduced the size of your image to 640x480, and made any other corrections, you'll want to save this image under another file name....don't make the mistake of over-writing your original file. In other words you want to hit "save as" NOT "save". When you go to save your newly resized image as a new jpeg the software will ask you to set the amount of compression you want....from LOW to HIGH. I generally set my compression at "MEDIUM".
If you have Adobe Photoshop this is MUCH easier. It has a function called "Save for Web". It makes this totally painless. There are also plenty of other image editors out there, even some free ones. Irfanview is one of the best of the freebies. You can download it at: http://www.irfanview.com/
Once your picture is a resized and compressed jpg file you're now ready to upload it as part of your post.
Just click on the "Manage Attachments". A separate window will open up and you'll see several boxes with a "Browse" button next to each of them. There's more than one box because you can attach more than one image to your post. Simply click on one of the browse buttons and it will open another window that will allow you to find the file on your computer. Click on your new jpeg, highlighting the file, then click "Open". That window will go away and the file name will appear in one of the "Browse" windows. Almost done. Now click on "Upload". It may take a few seconds, but a little box will appear below the "Browse" windows. It says "Current Attachments". It will contain the file name and the file size of your photo. You're done. All you need to do now is to hit the "Close this window" button. It's now attached to your post.
This looks like a lot of info, but it's very easy after you've done it once. If you have any questions.....post away.
