I can't decide on what type of screen to buy. Brass or steel? Is there a difference?

I have used both in my stone bowls.
Did not notice a differnce myself,
there are some people who think screens in general are harmful.
I don't know for sure though.

everytime I get a new screen for mine (not the glass one, the acrylic one) I hold it with hemos and burn it until it's not shiny anymore...I was told by some people that you should do that to get the finish off it...and was told NEVER to smoke from brass....I don't know if that goes for screens or not...
When I was lil, when we'd go camping, my dad would put a 1 foot length of brass pipe, with a piece of garden hose inside it, in the fire, with holes drilled in it, and it would make the fire burn very pretty colors ;) I don't know if it was the brass or the hose that made the colors, but I wouldn't want to smoke outta it..LOL

How big r these bowl's u guy's and gal's are using ???
My cone is made of brass !
Unless you apply extreme high temp's to it it won't release any nastie's,same goes for aluminium cone's.
Duj,it was the brass being broken back down to it's basic elements due to the intense heat from the fire.
The smoke woulda looked "greenish-blue" with some "yellow" in it as well ?
I don't like using screen's as i find that u r ALWAY'S cleaning them.

When you clean a brass bowl, scrape it you also scrape away the brass,i've scraped them and got some pretty big pieces without applying much pressure :blazed:
