Just a little joke, watched a few too many episodes of Scrubs.
Anyhow, this is a new setup - I want you all to see. There's been reported problems with stunted growth in the bucket systems. The flood table was constructed using a 24" plastic tub and some aquarium silicon gel. It's flooded 3 times daily on an 18-hour 250watt MH light cycle.

From the pictures you will see that its look pretty good, the spacing between nodes and the a general "bushiness" is evident under this lamp.

The root balls are in the Rockwool cubes sitting on top of 0.5" of Clay pellets and then covered with clay.

Cool shit dude :) I personally wanna use the watering ring method someday .. How often do u have water run thru the round circular lines to the LEft ?? in the squarish buckets ???
Also what do u use to build the pressure n to fill and do u reuse the water once u drain it ?? or does it go to a holding area somewhere N get the ph resuited ?? Im a dirt farmer but seein ur grow makes me get that feelin deep down agn :P I wanna gro the Dro way

Lookin Nice so far dude .. Keep us up to date .. Pic WHore HERE !!!!

:blaze: X

Guys thanks for the feedback!

to answer your question about the watering ring.. personally I haven't found much success with it. The two plants that grown underneath it have shown mixed results in terms of growth. Whereas at one point growth was phenomenally fast, its has since stunted nad have noticed little new growth on the taller lankier plant as seen in the background. Another case with the plant shown in the bato bucket of the foreground was almost no growth at all for a period of time and then suddenly sporadic bursts of growth.

I'm more comfortable with ebb & flow for taking care of pre-flowers and rooted clones but I understand the benefits of top-down watering and am trying to accomodate such techniques.

This goes out to everyone, if you can suggest some tips or have any theories as to why two different plants reacted in that way, it would be great to know.

The background plant is a Haze plant, and the foreground plant is an unidentified Indica, but it rocks my socks as I've recently experienced :)

1) I change water bi-weekly, full nutes each change.
2) Top off regularly, every 2 or 3 days usually with pH'd water.
3) the Haze plant was bent to get more side growth, it started and then it stopped. Weird.

Oh yeah as far as pressure,
This is a bato bucket system so all you really need for is an Aquarium air pump. I use a dual-ported Sunleaves adjustable AIR Pump it powers both buckets, they are feed 3 times daily as well as they are on the same timer with the flood table.

I suppose thinking about it now I could increase the frequency of feedings to the bato buckets. Would that yield some better results? Any opionions..

You seen Rowdy?

I am trying dro for the first time. DWC and some hand water. I am hating the hand water results. The DWC on the other hand is quite healthy, I haven't gotten it down fully yet and the growth rate is slower than my soil grows but it is low maintenance and seems hard to fuck up your plants. I wont ever do hand water again. I will probably do DWC along side my soil grows and would recommend it for sure.

I've never heard WaterFarms called "bato buckets," but with plants that big, your air pump should be on all the time.

from literature I've read the Dutch invented the 'Bato Bucket' system.. its basically the setup as seen in the picture, roots are suspended in medium inside a smaller container and roots grow into the bigger container that houses the smaller one. air pressure through a line pushes water from the larger container which is the reservoir into a watering ring and the cycle repeats.

whatever it is, the results have not been good!

anyone have any information on feeding schedules with ring feeders and 'bucket' DWC systems?

What you saw up there was from October/November.. and this is what happened to them come January.

They call them Waterfarm buckets here.

Cam the feed should run 24/7 on the buckets. Probably why you are having mixed results with it.
Run them 15on/15off (minutes) until the roots have established themselves. Basically, when you see roots coming throught the small pot into the ressy, run it 24/7.
Some people run them 15/15 throughout the grow and do very well. But most just run them 24/7 with equal or better results.
Nice job btw.
