As some of you may know I sent some LR2 F2's to Don who pollinated a female with some Ogerkush pollen from his male. The result was a bunch of big strong colourful seeds of which I got half back. I planted 6 seeds 5 days ago in 5cm pots and 5 have germinated.

The plan with this one is to find a nice female to backcross with some LR2 pollen again with the hopes of arriving at a nice cross in a few generations time.

I don't expect to find any autoflowering plants though I may get lucky (auto-female would be ideal). The ratio expected from this batch of seeds is about 3% because the father is non AF.

Once I cross back with an AF father though the ratio should increase to 30%+ AF's but we will have a cross that is slightly more LR2 (It really should have been started with an AF male rather than a non AF one). Then its just a matter of selectively inbreeding for a few generations till the job is complete.

This is just a fun little project for my education that will hopefully end up with some nice AF bud...we shall see.

The seedlings are under a 125W blue enviro for the moment in simple organic seedling compost with lots of sand for drainage and some basalt rock and a little mychorrizal fungi (dunno if it was enough). Not much to see so I will leave out the pics till they are 2-3 weeks old and are potted up.

Logers there, Automatic-O here. :lmao:
It's like an open source project you can tinker and rename as you like, the source is LR2 F2 x Ogerskush s1. I'll probably soon start my own batch for outdoors here. June-July should be sufficient if there is one autoflowering plant.

The mycorrhiza should be sufficient anyway, since I use one caplsule on 7 - 9 L substrate. You can as well make a fungal tea and water with it to inoculate. In that case only a tiny amount is necessary. The Oger - not autoflowering tho - seemed like a good choice. He adds (hopefully like he has before) quite an appetite for nutes. That should make the LRs less delicate.

OK

Finally got those pics posted lol. Dumbass me had resized the pictures but had been attempting to upload the originals lol.....oops.

Anyway, the 5 lowgers went into 12/12 after a 3 week veg on Saturday 22nd June. Here is a pic of them the day they went into the flowering box.

http://www.420genetics.com/gallery/files/8/9/7/100_3538.jpg

You can see they have a touch of burn because the mix was a bit hot but they turned out fine.

They showed sex just over a week ago.... 2 males ...

http://www.420genetics.com/gallery/files/8/9/7/100_3787.jpg

and 3 females...

http://www.420genetics.com/gallery/files/8/9/7/100_3781.jpg

Those pics are from yesterday......as you can see...they are stretching like crazy...lanky little buggers these Lowgers :)

And just to show you what else I have going on.....

6 LR2 x Sadhu

They can't handle the heat of my soil mix...... I'll be more gentle with these in future.....also they are much more squat than their Lowger cousins...they will be 3 weeks old this weekend.. The sadhu has very little stretch in her so I expect some real midget plants here...

The Sadhu LRs look lush and I'm interested how that lanky Lowgers will turn out.

Burned and puny I would say, but thanks anyway :) I also have 3 seeds from your JS which had a few freak pollinations from the LR2 male which I will put down this week along with a few more Lowgers :)

when you mixed in the other strain into the low rider did it totaly eliminate the autoflowering

Actually an autoflowering plant would be appreciated, as I see it from my viewpoint.

Not totally. The autoflowering traits are still in the genetic line.

Because the father was a non autoflowering plant then we can expect only about 3% of this population to actually autoflower. If we had started with an autoflowering father then ratio would be in the region of 30%.

Ideally what we need is an autoflowering male from this population....

the strain sounds awsome i hope you find that auto flower male so you can continue your breeding project:thumbsup: cant wait to see some bud porn:icon_smil

I have one specimen here that is coming along nicely after a rough start. I selected one from six seedlings due to space and to get the most vigorous specimen. Maybe it's male, but I doubt it's autoflowering, because it would be time for preflowers right now, but I don't give up hope. :D
Picture soon. I have repotted not long ago and the plant is catching up and bulking up nicely so far.

Argh! You just reduced our chances of finding an AF specimen!!!

hehe! I understand totally about the space issues man. Im just messing.

I have collected pollen from the two males in the hope that some inbreeding will bring the autoflowering genes forward. I will pollinate the lower branches of each plant in about 2 weeks.

I really hope you have picked an AF male ;)

~70 seeds in total and 3% chance for AF => ~ 2 AF specimens. I don't think that really matters, if the plants finish quick without af.:bongdude:

How long does the Ogerkush take to finish?

It's said that you could harvest at 6 weeks already. Imhe, you should let her go at least a bit longer than 7 weeks and the high is then very racy. The better the longer in that case and I'm usually not that retentive. I once let the oger almost 12 weeks and it was superior in any way.

LR2 is about 6 weeks so I guess I'll start checking the trics in 4-5 weeks time then. Would be nice if they finish so quick :) Stash is rather low :P

Here are the girls today... the middle one is developing fastest...

http://www.420genetics.com/gallery/files/8/9/7/100_3808.jpg

This one grew into the light when I was away for a day.....fresh pistils are growing though....should I cut off the damaged top 2 nodes? I dunno....

The dusty males with their heads in the bags below collecting pollen...

http://www.420genetics.com/gallery/files/8/9/7/100_3813.jpg

The Sadhu crossed plants are almost 4 weeks old with no sign of AF......

http://www.420genetics.com/gallery/files/8/9/7/100_3824.jpg

So I put em in the flowering box today..

http://www.420genetics.com/gallery/files/8/9/7/100_3825.jpg

Oh....and I forgot to mention previously. I got myself some decent extraction for my DIY carbon filter :)

Oh yeah, looking cool. That hole in the one pic was made using brute force I assume? Or did you invite Tap? :lmao:
I have had burned tops before (common when going micro) but topping wasn't necessary and shouldn't in your case as well imho.

MigrowGrower
07-15-2008, 02:49 PM
Yeah lol, brute force. My drill was fucked so I was without a holesaw. I got myself a new drill though and made some proper vent holes in the sides and patched the "brute forced" one with panda film :p

I will trust your judgement and just leave the burned top on :)

Don de Marco
07-16-2008, 04:34 PM
hehe, I had a burned tip today myself. The budsite was almost touching the top of the box next to the light. The layer of hot air was enough to slightly fry the tips. I supercropped :lmao:
And maybe - I'm not quite sure yet - I have an AF female.

MigrowGrower
07-16-2008, 07:16 PM
Better if its a male....but if its a female fair enough. I can send some pollen directly and we can keep things going. Let me know when you are more sure and if its an AF female then I'll send some pollen....

Still have to try the Sadhus, but I may run a selection on my Ethiopian X OG Sunshine in my Flowering cab comes fall, so the sadhus are still in the queue.

I think I was wrong. I misinterpreted the fine threads that were coming along with the new growth for female pistils. In fact I think I'm seeing small (very small) balls forming. Almost not visible for the naked eye. Nevertheless, that's a very nice specimen and I'll put it under 12/12 this week nevertheless. I plan to collect some pollen anyway.

Sounds like preflowers. Maybe we aint been so lucky.

Out of my three girls only one is looking like a keeper. The middle one from the pic above... The other two are too stretched and don't look like they will yield well. The keeper is nice and frosty and is packing on quite some weight though... I will maybe reveg her as a bonzai mum. pics soon.

That's her before entering 12/12. Exactly one week later, yesterday she definitely proved female.

Sorry its been so long since I been around. I been very busy the last couple of months and have not been so focused on growing.

That plant is looking sweet DDM. :) Shouldn't have very long left. Mine took only 7-8 weeks. Any update?

Sorry I got no pics but the plants all finished very well and are a very excellent smoke which works good for my wifes pain. Not much needed for a nice high and I find that tolerance doesn't grow quickly with this strain which is great :)

MG

Oh and I am so impressed with this strain that I have another 12 seedling on the go now. Plan is to flower some of them after a 4 week veg and to veg some others 6-8 weeks for a big pot/plant grow. They will all be LST's this time which should work very well with this strain.

That's good, I was getting slightly worried - or thinking the Lowger was so awful that both of you are hating me now .
I'm glad you like the L -Owger.
As I remember, mine threw out a few bananas and was immediately discarded because I was impregnating the Nigerian with the JS F2. So yeah, I'm likely more working on the mind scattering experience here. If you need the remaining seeds along with some new castings, let me know.

Glad everything turned out fine. I feel there's a smokeout coming along in Maastricht in early winther. I'm quite tight on money myself atm, since I'm finishing my diploma, but if Useless will show up there, I'll try to be there myself.

Take care.
