GDay 420Genetics crew.
Been a little fidgety with too much time on the hands of late, and of coarse ones mind starts to wander.
After a bit of not much thaught and plenty of :bonghit: &:blaze:
an idea to jam some clones of the Ducksfoots and Bitches from my cab grow was established.
Well the first couple batches of clones were donated to another outdoor grower friend, (along with 20 of the hazexskunk freebies & a couple other seed strains), untill this batch. They went to 1 gall containers with Searles premium potting mix to harden up & get used to the sun.
I noticed the other day that the cuts were getting a little root bound and overwatered, im too lazy to run em in & out of the rain, so I up potted em. Used a mix of Serles soil, mushroom compost, organic mulch, (couldnt get coco choir given new years and limited shops), vermiculite, perlite and a sprinkle of lime. All mixed up, soil feels good.
http://www.420genetics.com/gallery/files/5/2/soilmix.jpg
I repotted with this mix, then topped of with normal soil to keep the perlite/vermiculite out of site and to stop it floating and collecting at surface.
Ended up placing 7 Ducksfoots clones, 1 clone of each bitch1 & bitch2, an AK47 seed plant and a Northern Lights x Big Bud seed plants in 20 litre pots, (I think, there bigger then before, I wasnt paying much attention LOL), with the NLxBB in a 35litre.
http://www.420genetics.com/gallery/files/5/2/repotted.jpg
The Ak and NLxBB were both sexed as females in the cab and placed outdoors for space issues. Have got rooted clones of these allready to start as new moms inside. Also have got shit loads of clones rooting so any left over worthies that dont make the tent, can come live it in the dog house.
Infact the soil clones are pumpin at the moment.
http://www.420genetics.com/gallery/files/5/2/loadedclonecab.jpg
Got two batches of soil cuts up top and 2 batches cuts for hydro in a mix, (mix be 2 parts perlite to 1 part vermiculite).
3rd batch of soilies in 6 weeks, so far only lost 4, they had roots but not up to par.
White Rhino1 on left, WR2 on right, both healthy as can be with roots out 2" netpot in 11 days.
http://www.420genetics.com/gallery/files/5/2/Healthysoilcuts11days.jpg
I dont use any hormones or gels, just lazy put em in dirt with the end chopped, water with couple drops of superthrive, ph5.8-6.5 area and seems to be working. Usually no more then 14days for roots out the pot.
Considering all this, I have started to think of bringing out the hacked up Rhinos and other Ak moms, then start new moms, indoors, from mature clones.
Have been collecting materials to build a new green house so all should be sweet for room & added security, peace of mind. At the moment, there stashed in between the shed and the house corner so only getting a good 6 -7 hours solid daylight a day max, need to get em in a greenhouse. They are private where they are and no one can see em from any angle, that is unless one cirtain neighbour climes a pravacy type security fence through a mass of impenatrably thick and filthy, bloody shit palms. Beacause of these palms, I was up cleaning the gutters out with the recent rain lately, I noticed the same neighbor has a few going in his yard too, so all should be cool..
Once the ball rolls a few notches forward, I may try drop some WR pollen on a DF & maybee make a batch of F2's. Have a young clone of a stinky crystally male White Rhino I pulled as was gettin too ballsy.
The lant has an extreemly dense straucture and glistining crystals all over the leaves and leaf stems.
http://www.420genetics.com/gallery/files/5/2/boysugar.jpg
Man that pic did not do the crystalls justice, I got to get a new cam.
Well the healthy male cut from WR#3, Ive got it veggin up the back corner of the clone tent for now.
http://www.420genetics.com/gallery/files/5/2/wrboyclone.jpg
Well there is a start to the new year down under. Have got a while till they will be ready, so thumbs crossed.
Take it easy and peace out 420gen.

i was just wondering how long is your growing season there in Australia ??

GDay lads, prob is time for an update, have lost my program to resize pics at moment so will get that caught up asap.
I can only comment on my general location which is a fair way up top of down here  but we get a growing season from rule of thumb fathers day to mothers day sort of area.
I know of a couple groiwers from my area and a little further north who use diff strains, one from seed, the other from cut, to actually get 2 outdoor seasons a year. Yes, I did say 2 seasons a year.
I argued for ages saying you cant flower out door twice a year but they proved me wrong.
My friend does a 50 plants rotation.
He does a long season from seed, 7-9mths, this last season he averaged 12oz plant.
and he does a quick season 3-4 mths, average around 4oz a plant.
This is right up in the hot bush/tropics of northern Aus and the wet season plays a real big part in this. My friend has over 35yrs of outdoor exp in his land.
Back to the DF's, a few of the larger ones were given away as they was a little too big for the yard, also today, I take 25 WR/AK47/NLxBB clones already sun hardened and powering to the same place today, will get some snaps there aswell. I then sunk 8 DF's and Bithches straight into the ground. I braught out the soil/seed plants from in the tent and up potted em, stuck em under the sun. Repoted in a mix as above with some added coco to the mix, man the coco surely is a good feel soil improver. Give em a good flush and stuck em under the sun, the sun give em a good flogging as they was still recovering from the tap water lockout but they finally adjusted. They are now kicken along now at a rapid rate, developing new growth, fast. Have an AK and an NLxBB that are flowering, the rest are powering & these two are flowering?? Could be due to the constant weeks of rain we been gettin lately.
Well, thats it for a quick flash, will get this pic program sorted and some new sunbathing porn up.
Cheers for the interest lads.

The new soil/coco type mix, the girls seemed to take right off in it. Took some effort washing the bloody coco though as I only went with the cheapo compressed bricks.

Some DFs cruisin away.
http://www.420genetics.com/gallery/files/5/2/grounded.jpg
Will get some more pics of the rest of em ground hogging it, they love it with no boundries.
Now to a couple quick bud startin pics. Dont know why, got em in full sun, feeding em high N ferts, yet 2 of em are flowering, not even there representitive clones are following suit?
Anyways,

Will be moving some girls into cane fields soon too:icon_smil

Things are going off well, ended up moving another bathtub in beside that one and added some good new soil.
Only prob at the moment is the fact its been raining here for nearly 5 weeks, lots of flooding around, and yep, you guesed it, lots of moisture=mold.
Yep, had to cut a few buds back all ready. The grey/brown death started in some so tried to catch it before it spread. Appart from the constant rain, when the sun comes out, were looking at 35'celcius days with off the scale humidity, so moisture plus+.
At the moment there is fair flooding around but the community is pretty tight, so were helping each other out as much as possible. May be on and offline over the next couple weeks, helping a few mates and families clean up ther homes.
Pics to come.

Thanks alot lads, glad you like em.
The orchids have been a family hoby for many a year, my father has a rather impressive greenhouse indeed.
These orchids are just nicknamed 'phals' or 'moth orchids', is just there genre/species known as phalaenopsis. A low lying tropical type orchid, likes it abit shadier then the finer rooted orchids, epiphites- (tree growing orchids), terraphites- (ground growing), lithophites- (rock growing), the phals being usually found in lowland subtropical/tropical type environment on lower trees branches, and rocks, suggesting why they like it a little more moist, perfect for flood and drain hydro. I have tried dandrobes, oncidiums, miltoniopsis, cymbidiums etc with the cymbidiums being next easiest to grow and the others alot more finicky, expecialy with feed/moisture levels and airation, (these species like to dry out quick).

And an old pic for sure but worthy,
http://www.growkind.com/gardens/HappyJay/473/4Rows.jpg
here we have the hydro kit set with both oncidiums and phals, they both took of but the phals liked it more so I repotted the oncidiums to wood and quinkin, (lava rock), and the phals are now the ones in the 4x4 e&f tray, Over the years I have managed to split these phals a few times and hand out a couple freebies.
The phals have had flowers last over 3 mths on the plant, with the petels that healthy an thick, they have the texture of leather.
WOW D9, those cacti look awesome, always been a fan of cacti gardens, just never got of my ass and tried one. Always loved the uniquiness of the cacti flowers.
Well anyways.
Thanks again lads.

thanks HJ : pipe: i started after i seen DDM's succulents and i got a few. and now that i dont have any bud growing here i had to start some type of garden.LOL
so i got more succulents, a palm tree, and some Cacti to keep me busy.
also since you have more experience with the orchids than i do. i was wondering once the flowers fall off do i have to cut it down for it to flower again or do i just leave it be:stumped:
HappyJay
04-27-2009, 10:22 PM
Just leave her be D9, shell be right, once the flowers have all opened and the influrecence, (flower spike) is all done, you can clip it off, otherwise nature will do its thing. I tend to leave the old spike on as every now and then, you will get a new phal start at a node in the spike. Ill try get some pics to show you, but its like a free orchid without having the hastle. After all to germ orchids, you have the hastle of pollinating, collecting seed pod, take to orchid culture place to jar up in agar-solution, wait for germ and grow out, they just take off from the spike. There is a technique to induce these growths of old spikes on all phals but some do it by emselves, Ill talk to my father to find out the exact proceedure.
To easy
HJ

Just a couple quick snaps what to look for when you want to multiply/split a phal. Remebering that these will differ from other orchid species such as catallaya allience and dendrobes etc.
http://www.420genetics.com/gallery/files/5/2/split.jpg
http://www.420genetics.com/gallery/files/5/2/split_2.jpg
Now these two are slightly older plants, one is coming right into spike now and the other is in perfect health to split. If I wished, I could split both now but the flowers on the other plant have a chance of falling off in the bulb form or not lasting very long.
Next we have a pic where you can see the old spikes still there with two of the plants throwing new kikis of the old flower spikes. Once these develoe a little root, they will be able to be cut from the spike and started as a new plant.

Cheers Lads.
The plants on the patio are a range of BW, WR & AK47.
The ones in the 2nd pick are the Whte Rhinos from nirvana, and too be honest, this strain grows/looks/smells/tastes more of a WWxSkunk instead of WWxAfghaan, like good WR should be. They do smoke heavy an put on OK weight, but just nothing like the original Mr Nice Med Man, nothing at all.
The BW smells so lovely, is throwing up many bud sites & slowly filling. Really need to get this green house finished to get em out under a bit more sun and make sure the rain keeps off em. Appart from that,
shweeet.

Well swear swear swear!!!
The other night I had some young lads jump my fence trying to steal my pushbikes. They were unsuccessfull, but they possibly could have seen my girls. It was in the pitch black so I hoped they were oblivious and relocated the girls to the new green house yesterday, as only the door remained to finish. I also got a new pup on the weekend.
Unfortunately they must have seen em!
Woke up this morning to a completely empty greenhouse. They must have taken advantage of the fact the door was not yet done & they took the lot, pots and all. Well, just exemplifies the fact that one shouldnt grow in the backyard unless there is positive security.
Will keep looking for some OD spots over winter and kick off with a gurilla thread once ready.

Well, after a little "walkabout", my girls have made there way home.
I guess some of the young, "would be", homeboy criminals in the area shit themselves and didnt want to end up like there mate. They actually showed up to appologise & admit they took em. They have returned what was left of them Im still considering cleaning out there bedrooms?? Maybee even confiscate one of there motobikes.
Anyways, I guess there home, so for now Ill have to find some where to throw em out bush. Hopefully there might be a little more respect shown in the local area, only time will tell.
Case Closed.

HJ, I would have taken the little bitches on walkabout. You want to borrow my bow and poison arrows? Make it look like an aborigeny did it. heh heh heh
Of course, less subtle methods can be good too. :boom:

Well, glad you got em back. Dont go getting in trouble over it though. Find some nice outdoor spots and get em rocking.

HJ brother im glad to hear your plants have return home to you. Now lets see what they can do...I gotta say you give everybody else quite the credit for being a good grower but not enough to yourself!
Once again great job, and I look forward to seeing them finish up in their beautiful backyard where they belong.
