I was wondering if anyone else has thought about the idea of using air stones, in soiless mediums like promix. Would this help? Any info on this would be great if anyone knows of any...

I'd be worried about something nasty growing on the air stone.
who knows!??!

im not sure but it might help bad bacterias to setup in the soil. if your thinking airstone you should setup 1 DWC bucket and grow it along side off the soil plants and watch the difference in growth. its a good idea though its worth looking into. i think a easier way to get Oxygen to the roots is to mix a good amount of perlite into your mix.

If your really worried about Ow2 levels you can use weak H2O2 solutions

I will second the perilite i am mixing 40/60 with ffof soil and very happy with the results,
As for the peroxide i have read and heard mixed reviews i tried and it did not help if anything it set me back. It is great for killing toxic fungus in the soil if you are having the problem but it also kills the good stuff in there to.....Just my 2 cents:thumbsup:

IDK, but I'm pretty sure it would just dry the roots, I don't think they'd uptake constant air being pumped in. Again I'm just talking out my ass but I think best way to get oxy to the roots would be by feeding with aerated nutes and h2o2

I think the airstone would mess up for sure. Like Baggins said, either something growing in or on it. The stone would probally clog up or dry out. You're on the right track thuogh Hydro!

heys, ..i luv it! welp, why not try preping just the water with an airstone for 24hrs. before the feed. see if it makes a difference and pretty simple if ya get a big bucket or sumthin:thumbsup:
but i still like your idea to begin with. emprovise, fill half the bucket/bag with promix...add 3 inch layer in middle of bag of perlite or hydrton and bury airstone under few inches(protect from clog)..then fill rest of bucket with soil....the roots will have a Oxygen rich layer which roots can penetrate....move on to bottom to feed, but keep middle layered with oxy....just a thought. and would make a nice DIY tech imo...K+:lite:
