Ok I baught one of those cheap digitel ballest off ebay 400w and three times now the light fail to come on at the right timme the light on the timer indicate's that power is there but nothing so if i unplug it for 5 minutes then plug it back in light come's on
also if i unplug the light then replug it in it wont come back on unless i let it sit for a few minutes first
so is this the curse of trying to save money lol should i just splurge for a ballest with a brand name?
Thanks

before you junk it or return if possible try hooking something else up to the timer a fan whatever just to make sure the timers fine.
i no at the Hydro Store it was only like $160 for the a 400w Digi i think thats pretty good for the brand name and its like 5 dollors for a 2 year warranty.
having it not come on till after it sits sounds like what a light does when it goes out it takes some cooling for it to fire back up.
yea so check out the timer. and try pluging the ballast directly into the wall to see if it goes on without problems.
and is your timer connected to an extension cord or is the timer plugged directly into the wall?

like D-9 check out your timer too. but yeah after going thru some hassles with cheaper gear, i dont screw around with that stuff anymore, its totally worth the few extra $$ you might pay at your local shop to know they will stand behind it and take care of you if and when you have issues like these.

i tried pluging it direclty and nothe so i kept it unpluged for a few and put it back in the timer then cam back on its only happened 3 times now luckly ive caught it withing 30 to 40 minutes so doubt and damage was done. Just a scare at first thaugh i was gona have to dig the ufo back out lol
ill stick out this harvest then get the swichable 400 to 600 ballast next grow
i doubt ill use the 600 right away cause i have enough trouble controlling heat from the 400 but it will be nice to have if i get a bigger space

If ya might be getting a bigger space I really like my Galaxy select a watt's you can run your 400 watt bulb in it, the best part is ya can fire up a 1k switched to 400 and only pull 400 watts. 1 bulb 4 settings. Karma, One Love:thumbsup:

also the magnetic ballast itself could be fine. its possible your starter/igniter is starting to junk out on you.
