Hello everybody,

I thought I would put up a thread seeing what others think about seed prices and the seed industry in general. What they should be, whats a good deal, and whats just to damn much to charge.
Hopefully nobody will get upset and everyone can share there thoughts freely without being flamed.

So where to start....lol

Personally I feel $5 for a standard (M/F) seed should be top dollar for proven kickass genetics from proven BREEDERS (just because someone makes a seed doesn't mean they are a "breeder"). I just dont understand new people jumping in and thinking they should charge the same price or even more than a known proven breeder.
Dont get me wrong I know everybody has to start somewhere but If you feel your gear is as good or better than others then why not sell them for $1 , $2 a bean? Once your rep. has grown I douth many people would complain about the prices going up to a reasonable price.
When ever I see packs for $75, $100, $150+ I just pitcure money grubbing assholes. I can see some items being sold for that much such as rare and discountinued packs , but not when there are 100's If not 1000's of packs just waiting to be sold. Don't get me wrong, I do concider some people that charge that much to be good/proven breeders (soma,etc..) but they lose all respect from me because of what they charge.
What is the adverage number of seeds produced on a female? I know that number can vary a lot but lets just say 1000 seeds. So thats 100 packs at $100 each which nets $10,000 , 500 seeds = $5,000. Can anybody really say with all of there heart that someone should get $5k-$10K per plant?
Plus another thing you will notice If one was to pay attention is that the ones who charge the most do the least in helping out others or does nothing at all???? Makes no since to me. No wait , yes it does. They are money whores, lol
I personally have helped out more people than alot of these so called "top breeders" do/have. Over the years with the help of Mota,Rush, and several other kind souls giving me seeds to give out I have been able to send out atleast 1000 letters to those in need. And I am 1 of the poorest guys any of you will ever meet , I honestly have gone without eating so I could buy letters/packing material to get some more letters out. It just bothers me not seeing any of these people making 100's of thousands of dollars off of the plant we all love but not spending 1 penny helping those to get there own plants?
I only personally know of 2 proven breeders who never charge more than $5 a bean($2-$3 is average) and give away way more than they sale. I would hate to add it up for them but I would guess they only sale 1 pack for every 20,30,40 packs they give out for free. Who are they you ask? Rushman and Motarebel. For any med user or new grower I just can't stress enough to check out there gear. After many years of net surfing and board hopping I found these 2 to be the only real deals out here.

well, I lost track of where I was ,lol I guess I'll stop for now and wait to hear what you guys think.

peace

Thats the same way I feel S.K . Too much greed and not enough love is ruining this "culture" and not to mention the planet.
If you havn't heard of, or seen Rushman or Motarebel before I would strongly advise to check em out. For the price I douth you or anybody else will find such great genetics , plus If I'm going to support somebody it's going to be a good guy and not some jerk off with $$$ in his eyes.
Here's a quick example:
For a pack of GBW F4 aka (pacific) G13 x BlackWidow F4 from Motarebel the price is $US24.57 , from reeferman it's $50. Reef did have it at $100 until recently , I guess he saw me telling someone where to find it at 1/4 of the price he was charging, lmao

Here's a short list of Rushman and Motarebel stock I have to get your brain thinking, lol

Swt #3 x C-99
Soma Mix
BlueBerry x AK-47
grapeFruit Mix
Mexican Chocolate Rainbow 89'wild stock
Indiana Bubblegum x Skunk#1
Leda Uno hybrids
Garlic Bud Mix
Bubba Kush x MK-Ultra
Killa Queen
LUI x White Ruskaya
pG-13 x Yumbolt
Bubba kush x Yumbolt
GrapeFruit BX-1 F3

I will spend good doe on good genetics.
DJ short is spendy but you are going to get top notch product.
Ill spend $100 to get decent seed lines.
GG and I split 12 Bubblegums from bog for $35 a piece......it was a good investment.

If you want decent seeds for a decent price.....Nirvana has the best deals IMO.

I understand that breeders have to pay for lights, nutes, elec, time, ect.
But I think prices should be lowered.
I will spend $100+ for a pack, but buy alot of Nirvana stuff.
I will only spend the $$$ on a strain, if it is proven to be great.

I think they have the right ,and should charge what the market will bare. But they should operate ethically. I know sometimes its hard to distinguish the lines though. I think a hundred bucks should be about the max for a proven strain from a proven breeder, Blueberry, AK47, DP WW, etc. You can rest assured that they will continue to charge what they feel is a fair price for their products.

SFC, your right
They do have the right to charge what ever they want.
Is it fair?

I think what KK is saying, that new breeders are chargeing the same prices as DJ short & DP ect.
When the older breeders have been working for years and have documents of there work & genetics.
Do the new guys?
Why do they get to charge $100+ for their genetics?

No offence to any of the new guys : pipe:

Yes, that was 1 item I was trying to point out that I feel is questionable and shouldn't be accepted by the growing community.
Top dollar should only go to proven breeders with proven ,stable genetics. I feel there is just too many new people starting up charging too much just because they may hold the "flavor of the month" so to say or are crossing some "elite" clones or selfing them.
Sadly I have seen way too many new "auction breeders", seedbanks , etc.. setup shop , charge top dollar , and then be seen for what they really are a few months/year later when everybodies plants start turning out to be crap. Then they quickly disappear into thin air.
But dont worry , they'll be back in a while with a new name/web site/seed names to soon be accepting your money again while still mailing out those bunk ass seeds they had left over from there last scam job.

But with all that said ,lol I think my main problem I have is with any pack of 10 seeds being $100 or more. Why?How? Can 1 seed cost $10 when there are 1000's, 10,000's to be sold and both mom/dad are still around to make more??? Like I said , rare , discontinued, etc. stock I see and understand. At that point it's more of a collector thing , which I understand and am involved in myself. But like I said when there are 1000's , 10'000's to be sold and both mom/dad still around where does anyone get the idea $10 a seed is fair/honest??? I just feel this is not right, the breeders themselfs know this is not right but don't they honestly just don't care for the next man , just the all mighty $$$$.

If anybody really thinks that most of these breeders today are just old school hippie types singing songs about peace&love, who love the magical plant and wish to spread joy to his fellow man you have no clue about the state of this"growingculture" is really at.
Here's a question.
Today, what is common to see If you know how to see threw the bs? Breeders/Seed companies lie about stock (make f2's and claim to be F1's) , breeders troll other breeders , hell now they have teams of trolls to attack other breeders and to hype there own stock for the hope of just a few more dollars. There are too many lies / false claims being made about genetics these days. It's amazing how so many once lost starins are now hitting the market??? Just watch and see , I have seen so many thread be make about old/lost strains and then magically they appear in a few months for $15 a seed, lmao

Well , I'll stop for now,lmao
This is just the tip of what I wish to talk about. They're are many, many other points that could be hit and really deserve to be spoken about.

looking forward to hearing more feedback.

Wanted to add this,lol
DJ is a awesome breeder, 1 of usa's finest. But I feel he is charging to much. I understand there are 1000's of people who see the price is fine and no biggie, and that is fine with me. I truly hope you find the best plant in the world and live the rest of your life in peace. My main thing is normal/ small personal / med growers just don't have that kind of money to spend.
DP on the other hand I feel are thumbs down. To many reasons to cover but basiclly, low parent selection & price.

"Here Here".. Very well put kindkid. I've been preaching the same message for years.
"Hacks and wannabees" have been and will continue to plague the industry. Simply put, there are NO standards set. Any 'half-assed' gardener that accidentally pollenates a female, can hang his shingle and is instantly "in Business".
I applaud folks/breeders, wether long established or not, that have and utilize a strict selection process, AND freely distribute their work. While at the same time abhor the hacks that open pollinate, or simply allow 'natural' selection of a couple P1's.(From a "real" breeder) Put together a delitefully delicious sounding desrciption, with a "Fancy assed" new name, and present them to the public with a price tag attatched.
"IMHO" they should be tarred-n-feathered and run outta' town on a rail. I'll readily donate a chicken or two to the cause.

It all boils down to ethics. Some of these breeders have none. It is a shame that they would try and cheat a fellow cultivator. But we do have a voice, and if you buy genetics that turn out to be bunk, we should consider it our duty to inform every website dedicated to MJ we can find. I love the internet, its the consumers best friend.
