If the bin smells, there is something wrong then. It smells barely - if at all. The bedding and the basalt meal covers the remaining scents.

Wicked info lads, Cheers.
Highly interested in the worm castins straight into coco. So far I been using a little watered down worm juice in some coco, might slowly bring up the strength, also might start adding my trim and throw away into the worm bin instead of the compost.

To much fat isn't good, because it'll go rancid and smell. Worms would eat anything organic in decay, but you probably do not want to attract flies.

BUMP! Great thread. I ordered my worms today to get started myself. Ive also been composting outdoors for last two years. In piles and in homemade compost bins. The worms will be my way to continue composting during the ice cold winter months we have here in the northeast.

Since I bought my own house Ive been able to grow roughly 80% of the veggies my family consumes. Next year I hope to be able to make it 100%. I also started some fruit patches in raised beds as well (Blueberries, Strawberries, Raspberries and Black Berries). Living Greener and growing organic is highly addicting and extremely satisfying.

I havent grown MJ for the last couple years, since I moved into my new home, but currently in the process of changing that as well. I have to sad looking little clones that were gifted to me and a seed order I hope lands this week (fingers crossed).

Heres a pic of a composter I made this year.....once I get the barrels Im going to make two double composters, just like this one with another barrel over the first. These are easier than composting on the ground!
